I have a five year old daughter, Kylie and a one year old, Maya. It is important to me to carve out one on one time with my five year old because my baby requires so much of my time and energy. As I worry more about the environment and the world that my children will inherit, conserving and becoming stewards of our earth has become more and more important to me. So one of the projects that Kylie and I have taken on is to compost kitchen and yard waste and then use that soil to create a container garden that yields fantastic fruits and veggies. I am getting the best of all things- time with my daughter, a project that is instilling in Kylie the love of nature and the pride and sense of accomplishment that comes from growing your own food and being able to make excellent meals. Not to mention saving money at grocery store. I also want to be able to do great adventures with my kids so we track the amount of money we are saving and keep it in a pot for a California adventure to Walt Disney. She is becoming conscious of conserving vs. waste, healthier foods vs. processed junk and even saving money to work towards a fun treat!
