I balance the green + the black in my life by being mindful of my actions and trying to always be kind. I remember the energy shortage of the early 70s. Our family scraped by, wearing sweaters en masse + keeping the thermostat low, grocery shopping in a thrifty manner + enjoying simple things. That mindset made a big impression on me. It struck me how delicious special splurges were- they were more valuable when not casually available. Grateful for my life + its blessings, I rescue dogs + cats through a local shelter, and this is one of my big "giving backs" for being grateful: I guess you could say I recycle pets! I bug my family + friends about using cold water when doing laundry, taking short showers, driving as little as possible, walking when one can, purchasing from environmentally friendly vendors, turning off lights when leaving a room + that goes for computers, too]. I love chocolate, food, wine, travel, the great outdoors, + riding my horse in the woods. I feel that we're on this planet to enjoy the blessings that come our way, but in moderation. Simple is beautiful. I try to make the most of each day. Isn't that all each of us really has?
