Curtis Stone and Green & Black's
The Green & Black’s Chocolate Challenge Recipe Contest with Curtis Stone is now complete and we are pleased to announce that we've selected our top 5 winners!
The contest required that each entry include a recipe using 5 or fewer ingredients (including Green & Black’s organic chocolate), a picture of the completed dish, and an essay explaining the entrant's growing taste for organic foods. As part of their prize, our 5 winners spent a day in New York City with "Take Home Chef" Curtis Stone. The group shopped at his favorite organic markets and then cooked a 3-course meal at the James Beard House. The winners were also invited to attend the annual James Beard Foundation Awards gala at New York’s Lincoln Center.
Finally, Green & Black’s continued to build on its existing relationship with the Toledo Cacao Growers’ Association in Belize and donated $100,000 to supply the members of the cooperative with funds to plant and grow hardwood trees. These hardwood trees, as part of a reinvestment in the indigenous rainforest, will help provide the necessary shade to shelter the farmers’ cocoa trees and allow them to thrive, providing them with greater economic opportunities.
