Green & Black's Garden Wins Gold At RHS Chelsea Flower Show

Building House  Leaf House

The Green & Black’s Rainforest Garden, a thought provoking garden created to raise awareness of the threats facing the rainforest has won gold, the top accolade at RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

The garden was created with the help of four Cameroonian indigenous women from the Baka and Bagyeli communities. The main focus of the garden is the mongulu, or leaf house, built by the women with leaves they brought from Africa. Surrounding the mongulu is red, mineral-rich earth typical of the rainforest floor and tropical, sub tropical and temperate plants as well as crops representing those grown by Baka and Bagyeli communities.

Green & Black’s sponsored the garden to help raise awareness of the importance of protecting complex ecosystems such as rainforests, and the communities that inhabit it. To learn more about where Green & Black’s cocoa is grown click here

After the Chelsea Flower Show the garden will be handed over to Greenpeace who will be displaying the garden at several festivals over the summer months.
